Resumen

Irrigation systems play a crucial role in delivering soluble chemicals to crops through a process known as chemigation. This method allows for precise application of chemicals to either the root zone or aerial parts of plants, or both. Specialized equipment is required for chemigation, with various injection methods available. Selecting appropriate equipment, maintaining it regularly, and operating it correctly are essential for a successful chemigation system. New irrigation system designs must consider chemical compatibility, while existing systems should be examined for uniformity and compatibility with injected chemicals. Water quality is also important, with some supplies requiring treatment to prevent clogging. This document focuses on the management aspects of chemigation and its implications for overall irrigation management.
