Three Trends in Teaching and Learning
Abstract
Great advancements have been made in how we 1) facilitate learning, 2) what we teach, and 3) the structure of knowledge that we memorize when we learn. To explore 1), over a dozen findings from research on how to facilitate learning are presented; 2) an increasing number of programs, process skills, and team skills are being developed; 3) realization that the context in which we learn new knowledge affects our ability to retrieve and use that knowledge effectively. Relationships between these three trends and problem-based learning are illustrated.
