Abstract
Social media has changed the way we communicate and share information. The negative effects of this change include more ample opportunity to infringe on the rights of copyright holders. This article looks at various aspects such as recent court cases on copyright infringement on social media platforms, and briefly examines how easily sharing may become infringement. Furthermore, suggestions are offered which point out why the law may have to be adapted to provide fair rules which protect copyright holders in an online sharing environment without silencing the communication rights of others.
