Abstract
Plants of Burley tobacco var. 'Ky 9' inoculated with the nematodes Meloidogyne incognita and M. javanica and grown in soil with a marked boron deficiency had 28% less boron in the leaves than the non-inoculated controls. From the standpoint of growth and development, only the plants inoculated with M. incognita showed significant differences when compared with the controls. The plants inoculated with both nematode species simultaneously developed similarly to the ones inoculated with M. incognita alone. However, the boron content in leaves of these plants was significantly higher than that of plants inoculated separately, and similar to that of the uninoculated checks.
