Abstract
The distribution and ecology of the genus Longidorus in the Central Region of Spain was studied. A total of 559 soil samples were collected from 114 sampling sites. Longidorus species were detected in about 35% of the sampled areas with L. belloi being the most common species followed by L. elongatus, L. caespiticola, L. pini, L. attenuatus, L. carpetanensis, L. macrosoma and L. vineacola. Relationships between species and the biotopic factors such as natural climax vegetation, climate and soil type were examined.
