New host records of Meloidogyne incognita

Abstract

Roots of the following plants grown in C.P.C.R.I. farm, Kayangulam on examination showed galls of varying sizes. A number of females were teased from the galls and identified on the basis of their perineal pattern as Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) Chitwood. The plants were Ananas comosus (L.) Merr., Anthurianum crystallinum Linden and Andre, Amaranthus sp., Areca macrocalyx Becc., A. triandra Roxb., Aralia balfouri Hort., Aralia sp., Caladium bicolor Vent., Convolvulus pes-tigridis Spreng., Curcuma amada L., Euphorbia heterophylla L., Ficus religiosa L., lasminum pubescens Willd., Muehlenbeckia platyclada Meissn., Mirtacarpus verticillatus (K. Sehum) Vatke. and Talinum cuneifolium Willd. These have not previously been reported as hosts for this nematode.
